My Goodness . . .

It’s been since May 10 since I last checked in. That’s the thing about blogs and journals and diaries and things; I’m terrible at keeping them current. It was a busy summer. I got a lot of writing and organizing done, so that’s good. A got a tremendous amount of reading done, so that’s good, too. I am now on the 7th book of the Fallen Empire series by Lindsay Buroker. I am obsessed with a few of the characters, and her writing style is wonderful. I’ll add them to the reviews. I am reading Stephen King’s Firestarter for the first time. Loving it. His books always start out shakily for me, but by the second chapter I’m hooked. I’ll review it later.

I’ve been moving along in my quest to read all of James Rollins’s, Dan Brown’s, and Steve Berry’s books. I’ll add reviews to the blog soon.

I have tried to read a couple of classics recently, but have had trouble getting through some of them because, I’ll say it, they are boring. I’m at a time in my life when I’m not wasting time on those things that don’t please me or serve me, or make me happy. And, sorry to say, Arabian Nights bores me a bit. Yawn.

I have read a few heart-pounding romances this summer. I’ll review those as well.

Enough for now. It’s good to be back. I’d love to say that I’ll try to keep up with this blog, but I hate to make hollow promises.

Stay interesting, my friends!

Information

I understand that every good blog must start out with some personal information about the blogger. (Deep breath) OK. My name is Tami Chase. I live in Texas. I am 50 years old this year (What?!?!). I am married and have 2 children; one adult daughter and one teenage son. My friends and family are the BEST anyone could ever hope for much less be blessed with. As time goes on, I’m sure I’ll mention all of them in some way so details will come later. I have been a History/English teacher for over 20 years in every venue you can imagine. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in English and a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies in American Culture. Umm . . . I think that’s it with all the basics.

The purpose of this blog. Well, as fun as it is, or has been over the decades, journal writing has become a little less fun. I have a lot of thoughts (evidently everyone does, hence social media) and want to share those thoughts with other people. I also very much want to be a published author, and after researching the best ways to get published or just have my writing out there, I have found that blogging and other on-line means of communicating help get the word(s) out. I enjoy writing, in particular historical thrillers along the lines of Dan Brown, Steve Berry, James Rollins, etc., and want to eventually change careers.

There are other genres I am interested in writing, but my heart is truly in the historical thriller. I also am an avid reader (of course) and thought it would be fun to start a blog where I can review books. I plan on having a section where I review older books and have another section where I review new books. Luckily I come from a family of devoted readers and educators who have instilled a love of the written word in me and through me to my children.

I was lucky to grow up in a household where both parents read all the time. There were literally several books in each room of the house that my Mom and/or Dad were reading at any given time. My grandparents would take my brother and I to the library on a regular basis when he and I visited them in the summers. These days, my parents and I exchange books through the mail and recommend authors, books, etc. on a regular basis. My children and I also read and discuss some of the same books and I am hoping that any one who visits my blog will do the same!

I would love it if you would recommend any books or authors you love, or even those you don’t, and we can discuss them. Please use my blog to review books and share your thoughts on literature and life. All thoughts are welcome as long as they are respectful. This is not a platform for politics unless it’s the topic of a book. We need to be adults (even if you’re not technically an adult yet) and be nice to each other. Speaking of adults, this is also not the place for erotica or pornographic novels. Romance, with it’s love (sex) scenes and what not, are very welcome, but erotica and pornography are not. If you wouldn’t recommend it to your family (yes, I recommend Romance novels to my Mom), then please don’t discuss it here.

I am excited about this new venture into the literary world! Please be patient as I am a beginner with blogging, and I am not as on-line savvy as I should be. As time goes on and I figure out this website-blog-making thingy, I will add visuals and maybe even video! If any of you are experienced with this sort of thing, please lend a hand. I am always open to suggestions. And, to quote the Beatles, “I get by with a little help from my friends”.
